Sept. 8 – 11

Art I

Objective: Student will be able to draw and shade the face realistically, not using left brain symbols for features.

Activity:  Demonstration and lecture on the symmetry, feature placement, eye line and center line.  Demonstration on eyes and possibly nose.

Art II

Objective: Students will draw the straight on face (review), and transfer it to watercolor paper.  Students will learn how to shade using watercolor pencil.

Activity:  After transferring face, students will shade a cylinder in watercolor pencil after watching a demonstration.  Students will then start to shade the face.

I will also demonstrate hair.

Art III & IV

Objective: Students will shade the face in oil.

Activity:  Demonstrations on skin tones, shading, blending, etc.   Lecture on importance of eyes and demos.

Aug 31 – Sept 4

Art I

Objective: to switch students from drawing symbols to drawing what they actually see.

Monday into Wednesday :  Left/Right brain lecture and drawing horse upside down, possibly plane exercise.

Wed – Friday:  Starting on the straight on face, eyes first

Advanced Art – all

Objective is to review the straight on face and learn how to shade in different media; Art II in watercolor and Art III and IV in oil.

Monday – discuss zen tangles and start review face, straight on, drawing egg head and sectioning parts

Tuesday – Friday :  Start with eyes and go on from there

Aug. 24 – 28

All Classes

Bell Ringers are famous quotes, on Friday they will write a response to one of them.

ISS assignments are art history reports available in the AC room.

Art I

Monday – Seating Chart and drawing assessments

Entire week students will be taking base line pre-instruction drawing assessments.

Art II & III

Monday – Seating Chart  and…

Objective:  Students wbat draw a design based on line and shape.

Activity:  Zen-tangles for notebook covers.

They may also watch jewelry instruction for IV’s

Art IV

Objective:  Students wbat create designs using line, shape and color

Activity:  Instruction and student experimentation with glass fusing and other jewelry making techniques.

Date:  Aug 20 – 21

Art I

Objective:  Best Classroom Practices

Instruction and Activities:  On Thursday we will go over class room rules and expectations.  Students will be given classroom syllabus.

Friday we will do before assessment – drawing from life.

Art II & III

Objective:  Thursday- Best Classroom Practices, Friday – design using line and shape

Instruction and Activities:  On Thursday we will go over class room rules and expectations.  Students will be given classroom syllabus.  We will also label slots, paint palettes, and notebooks.

On Friday students will use line and shape to create zen- tangle designs for notebooks.  This will continue through next week.  Students will also watch instruction for IV’s.

Art IV

Objective:  Thursday- Best Classroom Practices, Friday – design using line and shape to create jewelry

Instruction and Activities:  On Thursday we will go over class room rules and expectations.  Students will be given classroom syllabus.  We will also label slots, paint palettes, and notebooks.

On Friday students will receive instruction on fused glass and other jewelry techniques.

May 11 – 15

Art I:  Test Review for year.  Also, mandala project using radial symmetry.  I will explain and demonstrate, students will fill in mandala of their choice using radial symmetry.

Art II – III:

Portfolio review.  Also, research consultations on next year’s portrait projects.

April 28 – May 1

Art I:  Students will draw or pen zen-tangles, a design project with emphasis on line pattern.

Art II:  Students will start to research fantasy portrait project.  They must come up with two photo references, costume and design ideas.

Art III and IV:  Finish any remaining stained glass, and independent projects.

April 20 to 25

Art I – Friday students will draw still life arrangements.  I will give instruction first.

Art II & III  :  Some students will draw the figure from life on canvas, some will help with the show or start clean-up.

Art IV:  Students will either work on figure drawings from life on canvas, or their stained glass projects.
